We are seeking a detailed oriented, safety minded and highly motivated individual to fill the role of Operator/Catcher in the Piney Flats location.  Job responsibilities include but are not limited to; following procedures to safely meet customer expectations, complete required paperwork accurately, monitoring results and ensuring the quality of material and final products before leaving the work area.

Operate machine that automatically measures, prints, cuts, folds and glues or seals plain paper or plastic film to form bags.

  • Insert shaft into core of parent roll and secure using hand tools and mounts roll onto machine using hoist.
  • Thread materials from parent roll through guides and rollers to cutters, gluer, printer or folding device.
  • Start machine, observe operation and adjust machine to ensure uniform shearing, folding, gluing or sealing of continuous rolls of material into finished bags.
  • Read job orders and ensure conformity to specifications.
  • Set up and run machine
  • Make machine adjustments as necessary to maintain quality and production.
  • Change out formers.
  • Set bottom size.
  • Set draw roll pressure and position.
  • Fill glue pot and position seam unit.
  • Check production order for packaging instructions, bundles, boxes, stretch wrap etc.
  • Instruct catcher\stacker as needed to ensure running of machine.
  • Complete Production Report.
  • Tend in-line printer that prints data, such as brand name, trademark, content analysis and weight on paper bags.
  • Select proper print cylinder for specific job depending on length of bag and if registered print is required.
  • Mount plates on cylinder in proper position to match sample bag.
  • Fill ink reservoir with specified ink color.
  • Position print on paper web.
  • Clean press using solvent and rags.
  • May tend press that prints two or more colors.
  • Inspect bags coming off of bag machine for defects such as loose or torn edges or wrinkles, missing or misapplied glue, misprinted bags, color variation and inaccurate registration or ink smears.
  • Locate and remove defective bags from conveyor, stacking tables or pallets and dispose of defective bags according to instructions from supervisory personnel.
  • Ensure proper count of bags and bundles and places on pallets for shipping.
  • Check for defects and measure bag while machine is running without interruption.
  • Pull pallet from machine and set up for next pallet to be ran.
  • Perform daily housekeeping duties to maintain a clean and safe working area.
  • May be assigned other duties as necessary by management.
  • Lubricate equipment as needed.
  • Will be responsible for entering production data into Radius operating system
  • Ensure daily AIB compliance.
